The Smartphone as a Sensor: Silencio’s Foundational Vision

Silencio is building the world’s largest decentralized environmental data network, powered entirely by smartphones. What began with noise check-ins has become a full-stack sensor infrastructure designed to support smart cities, AI systems, and real-time data markets.

As our founder Thomas Messerer explained during the AMA, smartphones today are more than personal devices. They are mobile supercomputers capable of capturing a growing range of environmental signals including noise, air quality, light, motion, and more. Introducing the Alpha Burn

One of the most important announcements was the launch of the Alpha Burn program, initiated by the BlockSound Foundation. It began with the permanent destruction of 500 million $SLC tokens.

This is the first phase of a structured program that will remove over 2.3 billion unclaimed tokens from circulation. These tokens were originally reserved for the Beta Airdrop and early Deep In Luck raffles and were never claimed.

They will not be recycled. They are being permanently removed to reinforce long-term value.

Cleaning Up the Leaderboards: Taking Action on cheaters

The community raised valid concerns about the presence of cheaters. We addressed it directly.

To date, Silencio has recovered over 68 million $SLC from fraudulent activity. This includes users exploiting the system through GPS spoofing, automation tools, and unnatural hex patterns.

We are moving beyond manual enforcement.

A new autonomous detection system is being deployed to flag and suspend suspicious accounts before rewards are issued. It evaluates statistical anomalies, location entropy, and sensor patterns in real time.

We are also introducing a cooldown mechanic for accounts under investigation. Transparency reports will be published when major actions are taken.

This is not just about fairness. It is about preserving the value of the network and the integrity of the data. When institutions license Silencio data, they need to trust its quality.

Product Innovation: Delivering Real-World Utility

Our technology continues to evolve, driven by the goal of providing tangible benefits to our users and partners:

• Upgraded Map Explorer: The new version is live, offering enhanced speed, usability, and new visualization tools to explore noise data across the globe. This is DePIN delivering real-world value, today.
• Upcoming Browser Plugin: Soon, you’ll be able to access Silencio’s noise data directly within platforms like Booking.com and Airbnb, empowering you to make more informed decisions. This feature is currently under development.
• Premium Noise Reports: We are working on enabling users to purchase detailed noise reports for specific locations, adding another layer of utility.
• Passive Data Collection: To make participation easier and expand our data network, we are introducing passive location measurement (initially on Android). This allows users to contribute and earn rewards with minimal active engagement and will pave the way for future passive noise recording features.
• Enhanced Staking Options: We are introducing new restaking features within the app, providing more flexibility and maximizing rewards for our long-term $SLC supporters.
• Early Unlock Feature: Now live. Unlock your rewards early with a fee. Usage was low, signaling strong long-term conviction.
• Notification Bonus: Keep push notifications on throughout the month and earn extra rewards. We want to reward users who stay plugged in.

Revenue Model and Market Growth

Silencio is now generating live revenue through data sales and in-app monetization. This is active and growing.

We are listed on Datarade with more marketplace integrations underway. All revenue streams are tied to $SLC either through burns, buybacks, or staking rewards.

As new clients onboard and more commercial use cases emerge, the share of revenue from data will increase.
